No other plant in the world can make this product.
RAS-Tech has developed a proprietary process for removing the “filled asphalt coating” from waste shingle streams. Filled asphalt coating waterproofs the product and consists of a mixture of 35 percent oxidized asphalt and 65 percent 200 mesh limestone filler. The granule surface, the sand backing and the fiberglass mat reinforcement are all removed. RASphalt is an under 45 mesh powder. No other plant in the world can make this product.
RASphalt has properties that you would not expect. It is much stronger than virgin asphalt because the aromatics evaporate off during the aging process and the other constituents become more polar. Also, each particle of limestone is completely coated with this hard, adhesive asphalt. For example, when roofing membranes are made of a mixture of RASphalt and virgin materials the product is 30 percent stronger than virgin alone.

RASphalt filled asphalt coating
The roofing membranes that currently contain RASphalt are made from SBS rubber, asphalt, and they are reinforced with fiberglass- much like the construction of SMA. We believe that you will find that you can remove a portion of SBS, fiber and asphalt. RASphalt costs only 10 cents per pound FOB our plant in Brentwood, NH, so the savings will be substantial.
